As we prepare to celebrate Singapore’s 54th National Day in our Bicentennial year, it is worth taking pause to consider our blessings. Even while economic indicators suggest muted growth in the months to come amidst tumultuous global events, there is much to be thankful for. We can proceed to work without worry of a strike or protest crippling our transport networks. We can walk our streets without fear of violence. We can live amongst people of different ethnicities and religions in relative harmony. These things we may often take for granted, but they are truly priceless, and they are the social goods I want to continue working hard to preserve as a Singaporean. To all fellow Singaporeans, and our friends who call Singapore home, I wish you a wonderful long weekend enjoying and cherishing the peace, prosperity and progress that is possible here. May it long continue and grow!

To all our Muslim members, Selamat Hari Raya Haji!

Best wishes,
Paul

PS: Do try to catch the Singapore Bicentennial Experience, just a short walk away at the Fort Canning Centre. This immersive multimedia experience showcases key moments in Singapore’s 700 year history and would be a nice break from the office. The exhibition ends September 15th.
