Effective Teaching of STEM on Forces & Motion : Designing Bridges

The workshop will help teachers to understand the true meaning of “Technology” and “Engineering.” Using one of the units in Elementary is Elementary (EiE), the context will be introduced in the form of story, leading to identifying what the problem is, to learning the science principles involved through investigative experiments, selecting the materials for testing and finally the creation of the solution and improving it. Teachers will experience the 5-step Engineering Process, develop confidence to facilitate the “engineering” process among students to create the “technology” to solve the identified problem. In particular, teachers will learn how to deliver a STEM lesson on forces and motion through the designing and building of bridges in the classroom.
